Trucks are great vehicles to own, aren’t they? Unfortunately, owning a truck, like the Chevrolet Silverado, has some downsides as well. It turns out owning a truck isn’t all fun and games. We here at Amesbury Chevy have a few reasons why you shouldn’t get a Chevrolet Silverado.
Friends and family are likely to ask you if you can help them move simply because you have a capable truck. Unfortunately, you’ll probably gain a little weight due to all the free “Thank you” pizza.
A truck is great for enjoying the outdoors and nature as a whole, but it comes at a cost. Spending all that time outside could result in sunburns.
If there’s one thing no driver wants to do, it’s spend more money. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what will happen if you head to IKEA. The versatility and capability of the new Chevrolet Silverado will result in you buying more stuff simply because you don’t have to pay for delivery.
Owning a truck might mean you end up working more thanks in part to the number of doors the capability opens. Those short on cash could find themselves putting their truck to work plowing roads and helping friends with delivery.
Washing the Truck
Heading off-road will only lead to a messy truck, which means you’ll have to wash it once you return home from a day on the trails. Other fun outdoor activities, like mudding, are best done in a truck and will only make more of a mess.
Spring is a magnificent time of year. The natural world is in bloom, temperatures are warming up, and you have a million things you need to do, like gardening, repairing your house, and building that new swingset. Get these jobs done in a snap with your Chevrolet Silverado.
A fresh layer of mulch can really bring your front garden back to life. Depending on the trim level and engine, the Silverado has a maximum payload rating of up to 2,250 pounds, and that’s a lot of mulch. Imagine how much easier this job will be when you can load everything right into the bed of your Silverado.
But, the Silverado isn’t all work. You can have fun, too. Want to go on a spring bike ride along the coast? Load up the whole family’s collection of bikes into your bed, and be on the road faster. You won’t have to deal with removing the front tires or feeling like they might fall off the roof while you’re driving. If your weekend fun involves some bigger toys, like a boat, the Silverado can tow up to 12,500 pounds.
All of these activities with your Chevy Silverado, whether working or playing, will be easier than ever. Come see what else the Silverado can accomplish today at Amesbury Chevrolet.
Chevy is giving drivers more options than ever, including a range of new diesel powertrains. The 2018 Chevy Equinox, Cruze, and Cruze Hatchback will now come with diesel engine options to provide better fuel economy—among other essential advantages. While other automakers are dropping these powertrains, Chevy understands how important selection is to its customers, so it has expanded its Chevy Diesel lineup.
Chevy Diesel Powertrains
According to Detroit News, the 2018 model lineup will have several new diesel powertrains. This will include a 1.6-liter turbodiesel that gets up to 40 highway mpg. Only about 3% of models in the US are diesels; this engine type is considerably more popular in Europe. And, since Volkswagen and Audi have been prohibited from selling diesels in the US due to a recent scandal, Chevy has decided to pounce on a new market.
“Clearly, what’s happened at VW creates an opportunity for us,” GM North America President Alan Batey told reporters recently. “So we’ll do everything we can to seize the opportunity.”
What exactly is the difference between a diesel and gasoline engine? While gasoline engines use spark plugs to ignite fuel, a diesel engine uses compression to get every last ounce of energy out of the fuel. This leads to better fuel economy—one reason semis use diesel instead of gasoline. The new Chevy diesel lineup will offer better fuel economy for drivers everywhere.
Chevy recently released three new special edition SUVs, each of which has sharp styling and great new features. They include the Equinox Midnight Edition, Sport Edition, and Traverse Graphite Edition. Fans and reviewers can’t stop raving—these Chevy special edition SUVs are unlike anything you’ve ever seen.
According to Chevy, the Equinox special edition models will come with Mosaic Black Metallic (Midnight Edition) and Summit White (Sport Edition) colors. They will also have the following exterior features:
Black Chevy bowties
Black 18-inch alloy wheels
Jet-Black leather seating
Memory settings for driver
Black mirror caps
Black roof rack crossbars
This black undertone makes these new Chevy special edition SUVs bolder and sharper, with looks you can spot a mile down the road.
“Special Editions give consumers an opportunity to buy something outside of the mainstream trim designation,” said Karl Brauer, senior director of automotive industry insights for Kelly Blue Book. “This lets them spend a little more for a unique model, one that often provides a higher resale value when it’s time to sell or trade the vehicle for their next purchase.”
The 2017 Traverse Graphite Edition will be available exclusively on the 2LT trim. It will have multiple color options, including Mosaic Black Metallic, Tungsten Metallic, Siren Red Tintcoat, and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat. The Graphite Edition also gets:
20-inch Dark Charcoal wheels
Black Chevy bowties
Integrated Assist Step
These new Chevy special edition model are also being released after the Trax Midnight Edition was announced last December. Chevy owners are getting more options than ever before, as well as sharper vehicle styling to truly set them apart on the road.
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is built to be tough and capable, but this model also has some intelligent design options to make your ride more enjoyable. From this model’s bold exterior to its sleek interior, you won’t believe you’re in a pickup when you get behind the wheel. With tons of cab configurations and options to choose from, the new Chevy Silverado 1500 design can cater to your every need.
The Chevy Silverado 1500 design is rarely discussed because of this model’s impressive performance, safety, and technology. Nonetheless, the exterior is carefully crafted to be sporty and bold, with a sculpted hood, wide stance, and distinct Chevy badging. According to Chevy, a muscular front-end also conveys this model’s capabilities in a single glance.
The interior is also designed to be stylish and comfortable. The doors are made with a triple-seal system to keep out noise and air, and an aerodynamic windshield reduces the sound of rushing air. Plus, with the dual-resilient foam seats, you’ll stay comfortable for longer. There are also steering-wheel mounted controls for ease of access, and a Driver Information Center lets you easily set cruise control and other safety features.
The Silverado design is also intelligent. USB ports and a 110-volt outlet are strategically placed so you always have somewhere to charge your electronic devices. Also, ergonomic seating for up to six makes sure everyone has space for long trips.
These are just some of the many great design features that make the Silverado 1500 truly stand out.
Since 2005, Chevrolet has been a major sponsor for Major League Baseball. Now, Chevrolet & Major League Baseball (MLB) are continuing their partnership as Chevrolet will once again be the Official Vehicle Partner and also becomes the Official Automotive Sponsor for MLB.
In addition, Chevrolet will be supporting the USA Baseball’s Play Ball initiative. This program, which is entering its second season, encourages participation in baseball and softball programs aimed at kids of all ages.
“Providing young people with more access and opportunities to play baseball is an important priority for us,” said Noah Garden, MLB Executive Vice President, Business, in a statement. “Chevy’s commitment to youth baseball aligns perfectly with the goals of Play Ball. This renewal displays an ever-increasing commitment to our partnership and to youth baseball players all over the country.”
The Play Ball program goes hand in hand with Chevy’s own Chevy Youth Baseball program, which it started in 2006. Participating youth baseball programs get equipment, sponsorship checks, fundraising opportunities, and unique Major and Minor League Baseball experiences and clinics. Over the past 10 years, Chevrolet & Major League Baseball have donated more than 90,000 equipment kits, renovated 9,400 parks, and helped more than 5.2 million kids enjoy baseball.

Warmer weather means that there will be more pedestrians, more animals, and more bicyclists on the road. Sharing the road with bikes can be dangerous, especially if you do not know how to handle the situation. Driving alongside bicyclists is easy, as long as you take the necessary precautions.
Be Careful When Driving Alongside Bicyclists
According to Edmunds, one of the biggest dangers is that drivers often fail to understand a bike rider’s vulnerability. For example, a bike tends to be four thousand pounds lighter than the average car in the US. Plus, our brains often fail to recognize that bikes are smaller than cars; this can lead to driver’s cutting off bicyclists that they don’t see, or it can cause them to tailgate closer than intended. Always leave a little extra room for bikes.
Turning right is also dangerous when there are bikes on the road. An added blind spot you will have is behind you and to the right. If a bike decides to go straight as you turn right, a collision could occur. Always check this blind spot when turning.
Finally, many drivers need to adjust their attitudes towards bicyclists. As long as riders are over the age of 10, they are considered vehicles. That means they have to ride on the road, and they must obey traffic laws. Treat bikes as equals on the road, and be sure to have patience.
