Winter is rolling out, and spring will take its place before we know it. Is your car ready for a road trip? Check out what Ron, our service manager, has to say when it comes to spring car maintenance tips!
Change the Wipers
Do you use your windshield wipers during winter? If you do,
odds are the rubber wiper blades have taken quite a hit from the snow, ice, and
cold. That can leave the blades unable to clear the spring showers from your
Changing your wiper blades is something most drivers can do
at home. A replacement set doesn’t cost much compared to the cost of a fender
bender because you couldn’t see.
It’s important to make sure your view of the road is free
and clear. Your windshield wipers are the first line of defense to an
Check the Battery
Your car can’t start without a functioning battery.
Performing a battery inspection can help avoid any unexpected surprises. Open
the hood and perform a visual inspection for any bulges or bumps. Tighten all
the connections and scrape any corrosion off of the posts. If it’s been more
than three years, consider replacing the battery altogether.
Wash the Exterior
A harsh winter can lead to salt and debris buildup that can
harm your car’s paintjob. Wash every inch and crevice of your car. Once the
paint shines in the sunlight, apply a coat of wax.
Between cryptic statements from Chevrolet officials and intriguing spy shots of a new disguised Chevy vehicle, the return of the TrailBlazer to the Chevrolet lineup is looking more and more likely. A new TrailBlazer still hasn’t been confirmed, but rumors are flying about when it might happen—and where it might fit into Chevy’s lineup.
Motor Trend claims that the new TrailBlazer would fall
between the Trax and Equinox, a similar size to the Trax but with a more
high-end interior and features. This theory checks out, as the spy shots were
initially thought to be of the next-generation Trax due to its size.
It could very well be the Trax, but the vehicle in the spy
shots is notably larger than the current Trax, and shares a lot of styling
cues—from what we can see—with the Chevy Blazer, so it would make sense for it
to be the TrailBlazer.
Real News vs. Fake News
Marketing director Steve Majoros fanned the flames of the
Chevrolet TrailBlazer rumors when asked to comment on them. He didn’t give a
specific answer but allegedly smiled and said that there would be news coming
Whether we’ll actually get a new TrailBlazer is still up in the air, but one thing is for certain: We can expect major news about a new release from Chevy in the next few months. We here at Amesbury Chevrolet are eager to share some such information with you.
The goodbye is bittersweet, as Americans have been moving away from sedans and towards SUVs for years now. American drivers are drawn to the versatility, space, smarts, and capabilities of SUVs. GM’s decision, therefore, will likely do nothing but allow the automaker to fine-tune the sedans it continues to offer and focus its attention on the vehicles that American drivers most desire. In addition, GM plans that “resources allocated to electric and autonomous vehicle programs will double in the next two years,” demonstrating its commitment to future automotive innovation.
Are you a proud owner of one of the discontinued sedans? Never fear, as you’ll still be able to have your vehicle serviced and repaired for years to come. Although GM is moving onto more popular segments and innovative electric vehicle technologies, it’ll never abandon its loyal customer base. That’s a guarantee from our team at Amesbury Chevrolet.

As anyone in the Amesbury area will tell you, winter weather can create a number of challenges for drivers. But with a little planning and preparation, there’s no reason why you can’t drive with confidence all winter long. Not sure where to start? I’ve got you covered with these winter car care tips.
Cold weather can put extra strain on your car’s battery, and can quickly transform a dying battery into a dead battery. Before winter officially arrives, it’s important to test your car’s battery to make sure it’s up to the task of winter driving.
Between snow, sleet, ice, and cold, traction is very important when driving in winter. Fall is the perfect time to check in on your car’s tires and monitor for proper pressure, alignment and tread.
Keep an eye on antifreeze
Coolant (AKA antifreeze) is essential for keeping your car’s engine running when the temperature begins to drop. As the name implies, antifreeze literally keeps the engine from freezing up in the cold, so it’s important to keep an eye on antifreeze levels going into the colder months of the year.
Stow emergency kit
Finally, it’s always a good idea to stow some emergency items in your car. During the winter, you should pack a kit in your car that contains food and water, blankets, and a battery-powered cellphone charger.

About one in eight women will develop breast cancer over the course of their lifetime. An estimated 266,000 new cases will be diagnosed in 2018 alone. Fortunately, U.S. residents have banded together to help find a cure. Here are two ways you can help Amesbury Chevrolet contribute to this cause.
The American Cancer Society has been organizing non-competitive “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walks to raise awareness of breast cancer and raise funds to find a cure. These events occur nationwide, and participating in one is a great way to lend a helping hand and spread education about the severity of the disease. Every cent towards the American Cancer Society brings the organization one step closer toward eradicating breast cancer.
Amesbury Chevy is proud to fulfill its duty to help fight cancer. The Annual Amesbury Chevy Classic Car Show brings people together to peruse an awesome selection of classic Chevrolets. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Raffle prizes include free car services, gift cards, and more. This event is a positive way to unite the community while raising awareness for breast cancer.
The Chevrolet lineup is about to expand with the highly anticipated arrival of the Chevrolet Blazer. The all-new 2019 Chevy Blazer will be situated between the compact Equinox and the three-row Traverse in the Chevrolet crossover and SUV lineup. It’s expected to arrive at dealerships in early 2019, and will bring some must-see styling and must-have features with it.
Look & Feel
The 2019 Chevy Blazer stands out from the rest of the crossover segment, and even from its fellow Chevrolet SUVs, thanks to a stylish, eye-catching design. HID headlamps, available 20-inch and 21-inch wheels, and trims with bold and unique details create multiple handsome options. The interior is refined and versatile, with premium materials and the useful Chevrolet-first Cargo Management System.
The impressive RS and Premier trims are powered by a standard 305-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Other trims get the 193-horsepower, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder. The Chevy Blazer will be available in all-wheel drive, and thus capable of tackling inclement weather as well as some dirt and gravel roads.
The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer will bring a sporty, stylish, and modern option to the Chevy SUV lineup. Here at Amesbury Chevrolet, we’re looking forward to learning more about this all-new SUV as new specs and information become available.
Chevy is teasing us with their announcement of the 2020 Silverado HD, which will debut next year. The heavy-duty pickup will be big, beastly, and offer formidable capabilities and power. All we have so far is a single image of the truck, and it looks tricked out with tough gear and features.
The automaker has announced that we will be able to see the 2020 Silverado HD vehicle being tested on public roads in the near future. This small tidbit of information is accompanied by the announcement that this vehicle will be produced during the third quarter of 2019 in Flint, Michigan. Although we’re short on official information, we expect that the new Silverado HD will offer a variety of strong powertrain options – including gas and diesel V8 options – as well as the many of the features currently on offer in the 2019 Silverado. It will most likely be lighter than its predecessors, offering enhanced towing and hauling capabilities and technologies. We’re guessing it will also feature state-of-the-art driver-assist and safety technology, as well as entertainment and connectivity technology like Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility.
The announcement of the 2020 Silverado HD comes after a string of other new Silverado model announcements, so look out for revamped, exciting 2019 Silverados in the coming months. Here at Amesbury Chevrolet, we can’t wait for the arrival of this highly-anticipated addition to Chevy’s truck lineup.
The Chevy Malibu isn’t just the perfect car for you – it’s the perfect car for the whole family. The Malibu is the ultimate car to be passed down thanks to its timelessness, safety, and efficiency.
The Malibu has earned multiple achievement titles and has proven its dependability by remaining the most reliable amongst other midsize contenders in the Power 2018 U.S. U.S. Dependability Study. It also scored the high honor of Top Safety Pick from the Institute of Highway Safety Pick thanks to its optional Driver Confidence Package.
The Malibu comes with available Teen Driver technology– which makes it perfect to pass down to the new drivers in your family. Teen Driver instills good driving habits in younger drivers by putting a volume limit on their driving, disabling the infotainment system until everyone’s buckled, and more. Plus, an in-vehicle report card makes it easy to make sure your teen is driving safely.
For the green drivers in your family, the Malibu is perfect. A hybrid option means that the Malibu can deliver up to an estimated 49 city mpg. Even the non-hybrid Malibu delivers an estimated 36 highway mpg, meaning that it’s ideal for the wallet-conscious members of your family, too.
You won’t find a better family ride than the Chevrolet Malibu, which can be found right here at Amesbury Chevrolet.
