Chevrolet’s Silverado pickup lineup will be getting some new additions for the 2019 model year. Chevrolet has announced that two new medium-duty Chevrolet trucks will be released in late 2018.
These trucks will be Class 4 and 5 medium-duty chassis trucks and will be called the Silverado 4500 and 5500. They will be available in both 4×4 and 4×2 configuration and offer a choice of regular and crew cabs. Just like the rest of the Silverado lineup, the new trucks will offer a range of GVWRs and wheelbases.
In the announcement, Chevrolet said these new trucks will use a Duamax turbo-diesel engine paired with an Allision transmission. Fleet managers will also appreciate the option of OnStar with 4G LTE Wi-Fi, which will help them stay connected with drivers to improve productivity and safety.
John Schwegman, U.S. director of Chevrolet Commercial Product, said, “The Silverado 4500 and 5500 will stand out because we’ve designed the trucks around how customers work. They will be powerful, highly maneuverable and among the easiest trucks on the market to upfit with specialized bodies, such as dump bodies, rollbacks, freight boxes and more.”
Here at Amesbury Chevrolet, we are excited to see what these new medium-duty Chevrolet trucks will be able to do.

Trucks are great vehicles to own, aren’t they? Unfortunately, owning a truck, like the Chevrolet Silverado, has some downsides as well. It turns out owning a truck isn’t all fun and games. We here at Amesbury Chevy have a few reasons why you shouldn’t get a Chevrolet Silverado.
Friends and family are likely to ask you if you can help them move simply because you have a capable truck. Unfortunately, you’ll probably gain a little weight due to all the free “Thank you” pizza.
A truck is great for enjoying the outdoors and nature as a whole, but it comes at a cost. Spending all that time outside could result in sunburns.
If there’s one thing no driver wants to do, it’s spend more money. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what will happen if you head to IKEA. The versatility and capability of the new Chevrolet Silverado will result in you buying more stuff simply because you don’t have to pay for delivery.
Owning a truck might mean you end up working more thanks in part to the number of doors the capability opens. Those short on cash could find themselves putting their truck to work plowing roads and helping friends with delivery.
Washing the Truck
Heading off-road will only lead to a messy truck, which means you’ll have to wash it once you return home from a day on the trails. Other fun outdoor activities, like mudding, are best done in a truck and will only make more of a mess.
Spring is a magnificent time of year. The natural world is in bloom, temperatures are warming up, and you have a million things you need to do, like gardening, repairing your house, and building that new swingset. Get these jobs done in a snap with your Chevrolet Silverado.
A fresh layer of mulch can really bring your front garden back to life. Depending on the trim level and engine, the Silverado has a maximum payload rating of up to 2,250 pounds, and that’s a lot of mulch. Imagine how much easier this job will be when you can load everything right into the bed of your Silverado.
But, the Silverado isn’t all work. You can have fun, too. Want to go on a spring bike ride along the coast? Load up the whole family’s collection of bikes into your bed, and be on the road faster. You won’t have to deal with removing the front tires or feeling like they might fall off the roof while you’re driving. If your weekend fun involves some bigger toys, like a boat, the Silverado can tow up to 12,500 pounds.
All of these activities with your Chevy Silverado, whether working or playing, will be easier than ever. Come see what else the Silverado can accomplish today at Amesbury Chevrolet.
The Little League of Amesbury was founded in 1952 and has thrived for the last 65 years, thanks to an active community and hundreds of dedicated volunteers. Registration for the Amesbury Little League is open, so if you want your kids on a team this summer, register them soon.
The A.L.L. website has posted information on divisions and age requirements, and the date set for kids eligible for AA, AAA, and Majors teams is Saturday, March 11. Tryouts are just for evaluation—everyone gets placed on a team. Coach and volunteer registration is also open, and the A.L.L. is always looking for good help, so don’t hesitate to sign up if you’re at all interested.
The A.L.L. will also hold an Umpire Rules and Mechanics Clinic on March 18 for umpires in the league, coaches, and anyone who wants to better understand Little League rules.
The Amesbury Little League receives tons of support from the community, especially during Dick’s Appreciation Day at Dick’s Sporting Goods, which gives 20% off on purchases made by participants from March 18 through March 19. It’s great that the Amesbury community cares so much about its children, and at Amesbury Chevrolet we’re proud to be part of it.
Trucks are designed to be the more durable vehicles on the market, making them a prime choice for drivers who are constantly working on home projects. Hauling dirt and bricks is a simple task for most trucks. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 offers a best-in-class maximum towing capacity of 12,500 lbs. when properly equipped. Imagine trying to move heavy bricks in the back of a sedan.
Harsh weather is an unfortunate occurrence in many climates, but trucks are built to handle the worst of the worst. Northern areas often experience slick winters that leave cars stranded on the side of the road. Fortunately, Chevrolet trucks can power through with their versatile four-wheel drive configuration. The heat isn’t a big factor for most trucks either. A properly-equipped truck can be driven year round with no major consequences.
Conquering the open road is largely dependent on safety features. While cars are built to crumple strategically upon impact in order to protect occupants, a truck is designed to power through whatever comes across its path. A higher ride height offers increased safety as well.
