The Top Car Games for Staying Entertained on Road Trips

Top Car Games | Amesbury, MA

Staying entertained on the road is hard enough for adults, but what do you do if you have children in the backseat. There are a variety of top car games for kids, from classics like I Spy to more original ones  you might not have heard of. In addition to stopping every two hours and keeping your kids fed and hydrated, eliminating boredom is a great way to make any road trip better.

According to Mini Time, the classic game I Spy is always a good idea because it can be sustained for long periods of time. The directions are simple: someone looks for something in the environment, says the classic words (“I spy something . . .”), and gives a clue.

Next, try the license plate game. If you’re driving on the interstate, give kids a pad of paper to record the state from which the vehicles around them come from. The first person to collect all 50 states wins, and you can even give bonuses for Canadian provinces. This is a great way to learn geography while you’re on the go.

The game “I’m going on a picnic” is also a great. This memory game requires your kids to remember a list of items — a trick that’s harder than it seems. The first player starts by saying “I’m going on a picnic and I’m bringing . . .” followed by something that begins with the letter A (e.g., apples). The second player repeats what the first person said, but adds something that begins with the letter B. This goes on until you reach the end of the alphabet. The only caveat is that it must be something you would bring on a picnic — food, supplies, etc.
