The Chevrolet heavy-duty pickup truck lineup is back for the new model year, and it’s the best it’s ever been. That being said, how does the 2020 Silverado HD differ from its predecessor? These are some of the differences between the 2019 and 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD.
For the new model year, the 2020 Silverado HD now comes with two powerful engines. The first is all new and is a standard 6.6-liter V8 engine. It produces 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque, replacing the 2019 model’s less powerful 6.0-liter V8.
The 2020 Silverado’s second engine is one that showed up mid-year on the 2019 — a 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 that puts out 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. This engine now comes paired to an all-new Allison® 10-speed automatic transmission, rather than last year’s six-speed.
Bigger is better when it comes to the Silverado heavy-duty lineup. The 2020 model’s wheelbase is 5.2 inches longer and 1.4 inches wider. It has also gained an additional 10.4 inches in overall length.
While each of these Silverado HD model years come with a range of connective features like Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, the 2020 offers more. This model comes with a range of trailering apps, wireless smartphone charging, audio system upgrades, and more USB ports.
